Tres Albas
Vinyeard Residential
At the heart of Chihuahua’s Mountain range, on an extended plateau, lies a piece of historical land. The terrain extends from the border of the estuary to the shrubbery, structured mainly by mesquite. Topographically, the site descends slowly and steadily until it drops dramatically into the estuary, creating views that feel both outstanding and calm. This made the setting for what today is a winemaking housing development.
The water is carefully controlled by a ditch which distributes it through the vineyard. The rainwater is distributed at the erosion-prone locations using half-moons and Zuni bowls. Similar referents from across the world, like Baja California, North Africa, and the Balearic Islands, were used to identify a solid material and sensorial feeling. Masonry walls and rammed earth elements were used as principal elements guiding your experience. The border is contained by a poetic stacked masonry wall, using traditional Taraumara building methodology.
