Garden on Structural Slab
We interpreted the oasis as an interior space that integrates and embraces its users, generating dynamism through pathways, layers and vegetative strata, levels, and topography that are experienced from within and through visual connections.
Lightweight and Efficient Structure Trees are strategically placed at key load-bearing points where columns are present. The garden is contained within a large planter that integrates irrigation and drainage systems previously implemented in slab-based gardens. Technologies such as geofoam were employed to generate topography without overloading the structural limits of the slab.
Topographic Composition and Stratification Through stratification and the superimposition of vegetative layers, the design creates a composition that generates visual screens, offering varying degrees of privacy, thermal comfort, and visual richness—both within the courtyard and as perceived from upper floors.
Plant Palette The structure is defined by 17 trees, accompanied by a mix of shrubs and groundcovers at their bases.
