Costa Palmas Design Guidelines
Master Planning
The following Landscape Design Guidelines provide a framework for all residential projects within Costa Palmas; a place where the desert meets the Sea of Cortez, and the Sierra de la Laguna mountains sit dramatically in the backdrop.
These guidelines are organized into four recurring Edge Conditions: Beach, Marina, Golf, and Streetscape. Each condition describes the specific landscape strategies such as massing, plant palette, and layering that bolster its unique site’s sense of place and beauty. These strategies also provide directives to inlay architecture within the landscape. Designers are encouraged to use these guidelines to develop naturalistic landscapes using native and well-adapted, non-invasive species. Transitions between areas blend seamlessly to create a unified and natural aesthetic throughout the community.
Correctly implementing these conditions and strategies ensures that Costa Palma’s landscape is a continuous and flowing experience. The landscape becomes a framework for integrating architecture and infrastructure into one seamless built environment.
